Yass Valley Dental Is QIP Accredited: What It Means for Our Patients
There’s a lot that goes into running a dental practice that patients don’t usually get to see. From making sure instruments are properly sterilised to keeping health records safe and our team prepared for emergencies, many important parts of dental care happen behind the scenes.
We often talk about how important patient care and safety are to us, but we also want our patients to know that there’s more behind those words. That’s why we’re proud to share that Yass Valley Dental has achieved QIP dental accreditation, with our procedures independently assessed against nationally recognised standards for safety and quality of care.

QIP Dental Accreditation at Yass Valley Dental
Both our Yass and Murrumbateman practices are accredited through the QIP Private Dental Practice Accreditation program, endorsed by the Australian Dental Association (ADA). Our current accreditation is valid until February 2028.
Accreditation isn’t compulsory for private dental practices in Australia, but we think it’s well worth doing. It gives us the chance to have someone outside our team take a closer look at how we work, check that we’re meeting the relevant standards and identify anything we could do better.
While our accreditation is valid for a set period, maintaining these standards is something we work on throughout the year, not just when an assessment is due.

What Does Accreditation Mean for Our Patients?
When you come to us for dental care, you’re trusting us with more than just your treatment. You’re also trusting us to look after your health information, follow safe clinical procedures and be prepared if something unexpected happens.
As part of our accreditation, an independent assessor reviews how we manage these responsibilities, including:
- Infection prevention and sterilisation: How we clean, sterilise and prepare reusable dental instruments between patients.
- Medication safety: How we store, handle and manage medicines safely.
- Patient records and privacy: How we keep your health information accurate, up to date and confidential.
- Emergency preparedness: How we train and equip our team to respond to medical emergencies.
- Patient involvement: How we explain treatment options, answer your questions and help you make informed decisions about your care.
These are important parts of looking after our patients, and having them independently reviewed provides an extra level of reassurance that we’re following recognised standards.

Although accreditation is awarded to the practice, it’s our team who makes it possible. Our dentists, oral health professionals, dental assistants and reception staff all contribute in different ways to keeping our practices running safely and looking after our patients.
Going through accreditation also gives us a chance to take a fresh look at how we work together. It helps us see what’s going well, discuss what could be improved and find ways to make things better across both locations.
