Cosmetic Dentistry
We encourage all patients to take the time to consider their options carefully. A consultation does not commit you to any treatment. We will explain the nature of each procedure, the associated risks, and realistic expectations before any decision is made.
Important: Cosmetic dental procedures, including veneers and facial injectables, carry risks. Individual outcomes vary. A consultation is required before any cosmetic treatment is undertaken. This information is general in nature and does not constitute dental or medical advice.
Professional Teeth Whitening
At Yass Valley Dental, we offer an in-chair whitening procedure followed by a take-home maintenance kit. A dental examination is recommended before commencing whitening to ensure your teeth and gums are in suitable condition.
Porcelain and Composite Veneers
We offer both ceramic (porcelain) veneers, which are laboratory-fabricated and typically more durable, and direct composite veneers, which are applied chair-side in a single visit. Your treating dentist will explain the differences, the preparation required for each type, the associated risks, and the realistic expectations for each option at your consultation.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a consultation before cosmetic treatment?
Yes. All cosmetic dental treatment at Yass Valley Dental begins with a consultation. This allows us to assess your oral health, understand your concerns, and discuss the options that may be appropriate for your circumstances. A consultation does not commit you to any treatment.
How do I know which treatment is right for me?
Your treating dentist will assess your teeth, gums, and bite during your consultation and explain which options may be appropriate given your specific circumstances. We will present the options available, explain how each one works, and outline the associated risks and realistic expectations. The decision is always yours.
Are cosmetic dental treatments covered by health insurance?
Coverage varies depending on your health fund and level of cover. Some cosmetic treatments with a restorative component — such as a crown — may attract a partial benefit under major dental extras. Purely cosmetic procedures are generally not covered. We recommend checking with your health fund before your appointment. We process on-the-spot HICAPS claims.
Are there risks associated with cosmetic dental treatment?
Yes. All dental procedures carry some degree of risk, and cosmetic procedures are no exception. Risks vary depending on the procedure and your individual circumstances. For higher-risk procedures such as veneers and injectables, we will conduct a thorough consultation, discuss the specific risks involved, and obtain your informed consent before proceeding. We encourage patients to ask questions and to take the time they need before making a decision.
What if I am not happy with my result?
We encourage all patients to discuss their concerns with us directly in the first instance. If you have a complaint about your treatment, you can also contact AHPRA at ahpra.gov.au. Your right to make a complaint is not affected by any documentation you may sign.
