FAQ
Am I a suitable candidate for dental implants?
Most healthy adults with adequate bone volume are candidates for dental implants. A CBCT scan allows us to precisely assess your bone density and anatomy. Patients who smoke, have uncontrolled diabetes, or take certain medications may require additional assessment. We'll discuss your full medical history at your consultation.
What if I don't have enough bone?
Bone grafting can often build up the jawbone to provide a stable foundation for an implant. We perform bone grafting in-house and will include this in your treatment plan if required. Your CBCT scan will determine whether grafting is needed before we can confirm your suitability.
Is implant surgery painful?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and most patients report it is more comfortable than they expected. You may experience mild soreness and swelling for two to three days afterwards, which is manageable with over-the-counter pain relief and the aftercare instructions we provide.
Can I drive from Canberra just for the implant consultation?
Absolutely. The consultation appointment takes approximately one hour and includes your CBCT scan, clinical assessment, and a full discussion of your treatment options and pricing. Many of our Canberra patients attend for a consultation and then schedule their treatment appointments to fit their diary.
