Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a crown and a filling?
A filling repairs a small to moderate area of decay within a tooth. A crown covers the entire visible surface of the tooth and is recommended when a tooth is too damaged, cracked, or weakened to be reliably restored with a filling. Crowns are stronger and provide better long-term protection for compromised teeth.
Are implants better than dentures?
Dental implants are the closest thing to a natural tooth. They are fixed in place, preserve jawbone, and look and function just like real teeth. Dentures are a more affordable option and suitable for patients who are not candidates for implants. We’ll discuss the best option for your individual circumstances at your consultation.
Can I get a crown on the same day?
For suitable cases, we can design, mill, and place a custom ceramic crown in a single appointment using our in-house CAD/CAM system. This eliminates the need for a temporary crown and a second visit. Ask our team whether a same-day crown is appropriate for your situation.
Does health insurance cover restorative dentistry?
Most major health funds provide cover for restorative treatments including fillings, crowns, root canal, and dentures under major dental extras. The amount varies by policy and annual limits. We process HICAPS claims on the spot and can provide item numbers for you to check your entitlements in advance.
